Hanging systems as a teaching aid

The primary school CBS De Sleutel in Rotterdam moved into a new school building in January, the moment to also look for a good way to hang up boards in the classrooms. “We requested information from various companies and were immediately enthusiastic about Artiteq,” says deputy director Shanti Dewki-Chedi of CBS De Sleutel. “The company thought along well and examined all the spaces and provided advice. They understood what we had in mind.” The Rotterdam primary school ultimately chose two different systems. In the offices of, among others, the director, a system that is attached to the ceiling was installed. With this Top Rail ceiling system, all walls can be arranged flexibly. “We mainly use this for hanging paintings. The advantage is that we don’t have to drill, which saves a lot of hassle. The system is really very simple, we can adjust everything ourselves as needed,” says Dewki-Chedi. “Of course, it would also be a shame to damage the walls of a brand new building right away with nails and holes in the wall. This way, that is prevented.”

Calm appearance

A hanging system has also been installed in the classrooms, for which the Info Rail presentation system was chosen. It is attached to the wall using a click & connect method. The clips are fastened to the wall with plugs and screws. The rail is then simply clicked onto the clips, ensuring it sits flush against the wall. “The classrooms have a lot of charts on the walls. For example, word cards in year 3 and world maps in the higher grades,” explains the deputy director of CBS De Sleutel. “Lessons and themes naturally change regularly, and with this system, the charts can be easily adjusted accordingly.” Of course, arts and crafts and drawings are also given a place on the walls. In the past, this sometimes looked messy, according to Dewki-Chedi. “And that doesn't fit with a modern new school building,” she believes. “Now we keep the walls nice and tidy, and clutter is prevented. That is also better for the students' concentration. A messy environment is distracting; a calm atmosphere also reflects on the children.” That the school looks tidy is the most important thing for CBS De Sleutel. Dewki-Chedi is also happy with the service from Artiteq. “The reactions from both the team and the students have also been very positive. It has become so easy to hang things up without the hassle of tape, thumbtacks, or nails. We are really very enthusiastic.”
