How do I install a picture hanging system?
Yes! Your painting hanging system from Artiteq is indoors. That means you can finally start hanging a picture rail and then your favorite artworks. Quickly hang that picture rail and start decorating! But how do you hang such a painting hanging system the easiest way?
In this blog, we will show you the 5 steps you need to take to easily and quickly hang your painting hanging system. We use the picture hanging rail system the Click Rail as an example. Depending on the type of Artiteq painting hanging system chosen, the details of the mounting of the painting hanging system may vary slightly. Always refer to the included mounting manual of the respective Artiteq painting hanging system.
Step 1. Where and how to hang a painting?
Step 1. Where and how to hang a painting?
Before ordering the desired Artiteq picture hanging system, it is good to determine which wall the Artiteq picture hanging system will be placed on. The choice of the type of hanging system for paintings depends on the wall or ceiling structure and whether you are allowed to drill into the wall or not. Measure the length of the wall well in advance to determine the meters needed. The Artiteq rails have a standard length of 200 cm*. For example, if 15 meters are needed, 16 meters should be ordered. In case of multiple offsets or angles, it is advisable to order some extra meters. There is a chance of leftover pieces because more needs to be cut to size.
* Artiteq also has a rail of 300 cm. These are often used in projects.
Step 2. Paint the rail the same color as your wall or ceiling
Step 2. Paint the rail the same color as your wall or ceiling
Is your wall painted in a color or do you wish to paint it a different color later? Then paint the rail in the same color! This way, the rail is beautifully integrated with the wall and is less noticeable. This brings you closer to achieving the blind mounting effect of the hanging system.
Both the rail and the end caps and corner connectors can be painted. The best result is achieved if you do this before the painting of the hanging system installation.
Side Note: Only the White Primer (RAL9016) versions of our hanging systems can be painted in a different color.
Step 3. Install the ceiling-mounted suspension system
Step 3. Install the ceiling-mounted hanging system
Install the ceiling-mounted hanging system – as close to the ceiling as possible. The Click Rail hanging system is attached to the wall using Click&Connect clips. The mounting bag contains enough Click&Connect clips, screws, and Fischer plugs (suitable for almost all walls). This way, you can hang the hanging system on almost any wall.
The Click&Connect clips are attached to the wall every 40cm with plugs and screws. Make sure your first Click&Connect clip starts about 15cm from the side. With this method, you can easily hang a picture rail just below the ceiling (ceiling-mounted).
Step 4. Cut the rail to size
Step 4. Cut the rail to size
The rail may need to be cut to size, use a metal saw for this. For a straight right-angle cut, it is advisable to use a miter box.
Measure carefully in advance where the rail needs to be cut. It is recommended to cut in such a way that the homemade cut ends up at the end or at a corner of the system. The rails can be easily attached to each other thanks to the Click&Connect clips.
Step 5. Attach the hanging system to the wall
Are all Click&Connect clips hanging? Is the rail cut to size? And are the end caps attached to the rail in advance? Then the rails can be clicked onto the clips. This lays the foundation for the mounting hanging system for paintings.
If you have a corner, it is possible to neatly finish the corner using corner connectors.
How do I hang my lists and other wall decorations on the picture hanging system?
How do I hang my frames and other wall decorations on the picture hanging system?
Now that the Artiteq picture hanging system is installed, the fun part begins: hanging the frames, artworks, paintings, and other wall decorations. This is very simple! The Twister hanging wires are the most straightforward and user-friendly hanging wires to use in the picture hanging system. You can 'twist' these at any desired location in the rail. Here are some tips for choosing the right hanging wires and hooks.
Tip 1. Use the right hanging wires and hooks for your frame / wall decoration
We offer a wide range of hanging wires and hooks. Depending on the type of wall decoration, frame, or painting you wish to hang, you determine which hanging wire and which hook is needed. Do you want your hanging wires to be almost invisible on the wall? Then choose the Artiteq Twister nylon hanging wires. These are available in different lengths (100 cm to 500 cm) and in two different thicknesses: 1 mm and 2 mm. The 1 mm Twister nylon hanging wires are the least noticeable on the wall.
For heavier wall decorations and artworks, the Twister steel cable hanging wires are often chosen. These are also available in different lengths and in two different thicknesses: 1 mm and 2 mm. More information about this can be found here.
Depending on the weight of a frame or other wall decoration, a hanging hook is chosen. We offer hanging hooks ranging from a maximum load weight of 4 kg to 20 kg. Do you have a heavier artwork? Then hang it with two hanging wires and hooks. More information about our hooks can be found here.
Tip 2. Hang multiple frames on one hanging wire for a gallery wall
Always wanted a gallery wall in your home? It’s your lucky day! With Artiteq picture hanging systems, you can hang a frame on a hanging wire, but you can also attach multiple frames to it. The advantage is that you can decide how high, low, and what distance between all the frames without drilling unnecessary holes in the wall.
Mirror hanging system and hanging a mirror
Do you want to hang a mirror? With the same Artiteq picture hanging system that has just been installed on your wall, you can hang a mirror. Safe, sleek, and flexible. Look closely at the back of the mirror to see what kind of mounting point it has and what the weight of the mirror is. Based on the weight and the mounting point, you determine the right hanging hook. The Artiteq hanging wires have a load capacity of 20 kilos, and we also have hooks that can carry 20 kilos.
