You paint a painting hanging system this way

Refreshing a hanging rail with a new coat of paint can give a space a completely new look. Whether you want to add a touch of freshness to an outdated rail or simply give your interior a personal touch. Once you've made the choice to paint your hanging rail? There you are, in the store in front of a shelf full of colors, brushes, and rollers. Which paint should you use? Should you use a brush to paint the hanging rail, or a roller instead? Decision stress! Therefore, read in this blog various tips to give our painting hanging systems a different color!

Use latex or acrylic paint to paint a hanging system

Artiteq profiles are coated using a powder coating with polyester paint, which is generally well paintable. The primer version is basically paintable with the usual 'house, garden, and kitchen' paints based on latex, acrylic, and alkyd. For repainting the profiles, it is essential to pre-treat the substrate. Degreasing (preferably with methylated spirits) and lightly sanding with fine sandpaper is sufficient as a pre-treatment.

Paint the hanging rail with these 5 steps

Step 1. Clean the rail and make it grease-free with a cloth (preferably with methylated spirits)
Step 2. Dry the rail after cleaning
Step 3. Lightly sand the rail with fine sandpaper
Step 4. Then apply the paint with a brush, roller, or spray can.
Step 5. Depending on how well the paint covers, determine how many layers you need to paint the rail

Note: make sure not to paint the bottom of the rail. By the bottom, we mean the side where the opening is located in which you click the hanging wires. If too much paint gets in here, it will no longer be possible to attach the hanging wires to the rail.

Paint your hanging rail with a brush or roller

Painting with a roller and a brush each has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the choice often depends on various factors, including the type of surface, the desired finish, and personal preference. Generally, you can say that rollers are convenient for speed and a smooth finish, while brushes are better suited for precision work and versatility. For all our paintable rails, the substrate is the same, so for that reason, it doesn't really matter whether you paint them with a brush or roller. You should keep in mind whether the hanging rail is already mounted on the wall or not.

Tip 1. Paint your mounted hanging rail with a brush
If you have already mounted your hanging rail to your wall, you can easily paint it with a brush. This way, you can easily reach all the corners and have more control over where you apply the paint. This way, you are less likely to hit a wall or ceiling.

Tip 2. Paint your hanging rail with a roller before mounting it to the wall
If you have not yet mounted your hanging rail to your wall, you can easily paint it with a roller. You can place old cardboard under the rails and just roll away! After painting (and allowing the painted rails to dry properly), mount the hanging rails to the wall according to the instructions. Read here tips and tricks on how to do this best. Tip: make sure to paint the end caps at the very last moment (after clicking them on).
